Function and purpose of the nose
The nose carries out many tasks, which serve, among other things, to prevent illnesses of even the lower respiratory tract. Desiccation of the nasal mucosa for example, which is not infrequent, restricts these functions.
This can, in turn, result in the formation of crusts and scabs, which not only hinder breathing, but which are often extremely painful.
The dry nose is no longer able to maintain its cleaning function. As a result, infections of the respiratory tract may occur with increasing frequency. A runny nose due to a cold or allergy can also prevent the nose from functioning normally and impair smell and taste sense, thus causing those affected considerable discomfort.

Respiratory tract mucosa
The respiratory tract is lined with a mucous membrane or mucosa, which ensures that the respiratory organs can function fully. Glandular cells and cilia are embedded in the respiratory tract mucosa. The glandular cells produce a fluid (secretion), which moistens the air that is inhaled (approx. 10,000 litres a day) and absorbs dust, dirt, germs etc. at the same time. The absorbed foreign bodies are transported back out, as if on a conveyer belt, or to the stomach via the pharynx by the cilia, which are constantly in motion.
When the mucous membranes dry out, their natural function is no longer guaranteed. As a result, germs are able to invade more easily and smell and taste are impaired. The mucous membrane can also become irritated.

Salt - healing effect on the respiratory tract
The curative effect of salt (sodium chloride) has been used by man for hundreds of years, for example in regions where the air is salty or in health resorts where salty spring water is evaporated over brushwood scaffolding (graduation-house). Treatment with Nisita® Nasal Spray or Nisita® Nasal Ointment is based on the principle of applying a sol layer with a constant pH to the nasal mucosa and in the waterabsorption properties of the salt combination.

Where the nose is blocked, Nisita® helps to keep the mucous membranes moist and thus to unblock the nose more quickly.
Improved nasal respiration - less snoring among other things
When the nose is affected by dryness or scabs, Nisita® moistens the mucous membrane and brings about a more rapid regeneration thereof, and protects the nose from drying out any further.
In small children or infants who are not yet able to blow their own nose, Nisita® can help to clean nostrils and maintain the natural protective function of the nose.
